1. Click on Configure menu & choose Preferences
   
2. Click on File on the left side menu
   1. "Number of recent files on File menu" = 9 (or whatever number you'd like)
      
3. Click on View on the left side menu
   1. Check box next to "Line numbers"
      
4. Click on the + next to Document Classes on the left side menu, so that there is a submenu under Document Classes
   
5. Click on Default on the left side menu, under Document Classes
   1. "Create new files as:" = UNIX
      
6. Click on the + next to Default, so that there is a submenu under Default
   
7. Click on Tabulation, under Default
   1. "Default tab spacing" = 2
   2. "Indent size" = 2
   3. Check box next to "Convert new tabs to spaces"
   4. Check box next to "Convert existing tabs to spaces when saving files"
      
8. Click on OK to close Preferences
